Sherberton Burgers
Moor meat on your plate

500g (1 lb) minced beef
half an onion grated
2 slices of bread crumbed
1 medium egg lightly beaten
Mixed herbs
Our secret ingredient - a big slosh of tomato sauce!


  1. Getting the children to help, in a large bowl mix the mince, grated onion and bread crumbs.
  2. Make a well in the centre and add the beaten egg, combine the egg with the other ingredients.
  3. Stir in the herbs and tomato sauce. Cover and leave to stand in the fridge if possible.
  4. Make the mixture into burger shapes (this can provide a variety of shapes depending on who is helping you!!), the size is up to you but bear in mind the larger or deeper burger will take longer to cook. I cook mine on a baking tray in the oven and the time taken depends on how my Aga is feeling! Check the burgers are cooked properly before serving.
